As a verse in a Zen Buddhism poem goes, “Light and darkness is a pair, like the foot before and the foot behind in walking.” Salvation and destruction. Presence and absence. Truth and deception. What lies between these seemingly irreconcilable opposites?

"Vignettes" is a photographic voyage by nine artists navigating various shades of grey in reality. While exploring seemingly discordant and antagonistic relationships between the mechanical and organic, tradition and modernity, a contemplation of relativity as a new reality emerges. Featuring approaches ranging from conceptual to documentary, whimsical to somber, the showcase is also a celebration of the highly diverse spectrum of black and white imagery.
