Khairuulah RAHIM biography | artworks | events

Khai works portrays the idea of the "lesser prominent", Khai uses mainly animals to convey this idea. In his recent series of paintings, Khai compared the idea of the elephant and the rhinoceros to the popular Batman and Robin duo in the context of the animal kingdom. In his opinion, the rhinoceros is usually seen upon as more passive compared to the elephant and to a certain extent, even unimportant.

From his own personal experience, Khai feels that his racial, gender and military role in the society is considered rather not important as well. Funny yet serious, his series of paintings and drawings portray the "sad but true" nature of the society we live in. Undeniably, animals have been a regular pick in his choice of subject matter. Growing up, he has always been awed by images of animals, be it wild or domesticated. Varying from geographical documentaries to cartoon series, animals are one of the most prominent subjects that interest him till today.
