Gajah Galley is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of Malaysian artist, Sabri Idrus. The exhibition will run from 12th to the 22nd of June 2015, featuring eight new paintings from the artist’s latest series.

Sabri Idrus’ works are already collected by some of the leading collectors in the region. He has been gaining international recognition and was a success at the recent Art Basel Hong Kong. He has a penchant of making pictures appear, vanish, and intermix; shaping the relationship and the possibility of inter-expression unendingly. Temptation to Symbolism is natural in his work, moving from an argumentative clash to imaginary is the attributes of his works that utilizes modern materials and method for expression. The artist recognizes the basic idea of relations between making, seeing and saying.

About Sabri Idrus

Born in Kedah, Malaysia (1971), Sabri Idrus studied fine art at Universiti Institut Teknologi Mara, Malaysia. The artist’s public collections include National Visual Arts Gallery, Kuala Lumpur; Galeri Petronas, Kuala Lumpur; Khazanah Nasional, Malaysia; Ministry of Finance, Malaysia; Muzeum Ziemi Pyzdrskeij, Pyzdry, Poland; Embassy of Poland, Malaysia; Muzium & Galeri Tuanku Fauziah, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang; His artworks have been exhibited at National Visual Art Gallery, Malaysia; Galeri Petronas, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Saatchi Gallery, London; Aula Gallery, University of Arts Poznan, Poland; Idrus is also the recipient of the Juror’s award at The Malaysia Open Show, and The Young Contemporary Art Award in Malaysia. The artist lives and works in Selangor, Malaysia.
