Thomas Yeo is a 2nd generation Singaporean artist whose artistic career has been closely intertwined with the tapestry of Singapore's history. In the 1960s, he pursued his Arts education at the Chelsea School of Art and the Hammersmith College of Arts and Architecture where he was immersed in the artistic upheaval in London at that time. Upon his return to Singapore, he inspired new generations of artists in the 70s and 80s with his fresh perspectives.
Best known for his abstract landscape paintings, Thomas has participated in over 130 solo and group exhibitions internationally. He also served on numerous committees and juries over the years; including:
Chairman of Shell Discovery Art (1986-2000),
Arts Advisor to the National Arts Council (1992-1994)
President of Modern Art Society (1994-99) and
Judge for the ASEAN Art Awards (1994 present)
In recognition of his extensive contribution to Singapore art, Thomas was conferred the Cultural Medallion by the Republics government in 1984.
