Translocality
by Taksu Singapore
Location: OCBC Centre Branch, 65 Chulia Street
Artist(s): Najib AHMAD BAMADHAJ, Hafidz SHABRI, Khairul IZHAM
Date: 17 Apr - 3 May 2013

TAKSU SG and OCBC are pleased to present Translocality, a collaborative exhibition by three young Malaysian artists: Najib Ahmad Bamadhaj, Khairul Izham and Hafidz Shabri.

The sense of Translocality, in this context, does not actually perpetuate the idea of a physical change in geographical allocation; rather, the elements expressed within the artworks create an avenue through which it becomes possible for the viewers to rethink Urbanity.

The concept of Translocality unravels to become a common language amongst the trio and the inherent in the paintings presented. The imageries incites one to perceive the disparate landscapes of modern age, in juxtaposition to a historical past seemingly forgotten. The works by our young Malaysian artists illustrates and serves as a nostalgic marker for a remembered history of a place, in order to understand urbanity backwards.
