Benba was born in 1971 in Bainang County, Tibet. Between 1989 and 1994 he studied in the Department of Fine Arts and the Department of Biology, Tibet University. In 1994, he taught in Lhasa Normal School. Currently working for the Tibet Autonomous Region Federation of Literature and Art Circles, he is Vice-Secretary of the Tibetan Artists Association and a member of the Chinese Artists Association.
