it is our pleasure to present the opening of 100 Yuan (Mao), a live ant farm installation by Japanese conceptual artist Yukinori Yanagi next Friday, October 10, at 7.00pm.
A living, breathing piece, 100 Yuan (Mao) will continue to evolve as the ants travel through the sand, transporting and mixing sand grains, creating a new work of art.
On show until November, this installation is part of Michael Janssen Singapore's ongoing Money / Flower exhibition which currently features two series of works from Yanagi's Ant Farm Project (1994 - ongoing).
Working with live ants and colored sand, Yanagi’s Ant Farm Project reflects his commitment to social justice through exposing widely accepted norms of political, national and ethnic oppression.
