7Adam Gallery and Art On Gallery will present seven premier contemporary Korean artists, showcasing a diverse selection of art pieces. The exhibition titled “Near and Dear Objects: New Horizon of Contemporary Korean Art" is the first of its kind in Singapore. With its eclectic selection of key artworks across a variety of media, “Near and Dear Objects” offers a comprehensive introduction into the world of contemporary Korean art .

As the name suggests, all the artists participating in this exhibition have prepared artworks whose subjects are familar and observable in our daily lives. From these near objects, artists depict the dear values entrenched in them and showcase the creations that move beyond the visible and obvious images seen at first glance. These closer perspectives from the artists in viewing the daily objects allow us to discover an in-depth observation of our own daily encounters and guide us to find artistic senses in our lives .

With rapid development back home, Korean contemporary artists are now taking a big step out to gain greater exposure and awareness over seas . This exhibition is a rare chance to see up close some of Korea’s most promising talents, renowned for both their artistic and commercial potential .

What makes this exhibiiton unique is the varied choice of media. The juxaposition of the 29 artworks, created using materials as diverse as steel, Korean paper, oil paints, and acrylic, are the perfect staring point for exploring refreshing new angles in Korean contemporary art. Of the seven artists featured, those exhibiting for the first time in Singapore include Kim Byung Joo, Kim Byung Jin, and Park Sang Nam. The other four artists, Kim Jonak, Park Shin Young, Seol Kyung Chul, and Hwang Hyun Seung have previously exhibited at various locations in Singapore. All artists participating in this exhibition have been awarded in various capacities in Korea as well as overseas.

This exclusive exhibition is a collaborative effort between 7Adam Gallery and Art on Gallery, a Singapore-based art consultancy which specializes in discovering and nurturing young and renowned Korean contemporary and craft artists.
