Color Madness
by 7Adam Gallery
Location: 7Adam Gallery
Artist(s): Deusa BLUMKE
Date: 22 Aug - 12 Sep 2013

With bold lines, splashes of paint and a desire to let the painting ‘paint itself’, Deusa Blumke, a Singapore based Brazilian artist, has successfully brought her spontaneous approach to creations. Her creative works of art have also made her one of the rising contemporary artists of her generation, proven by recent achievements and awards. In the online open call for the International Emerging Artist Award 2013, her work was selected as one of the best International painting submissions, with a display on the site’s online gallery since July.

7Adam Art Gallery is proud to present “Color Madness”, a new solo exhibition by Deusa, where expressions and reflections of colour and their movements are captured using a variety of techniques and materials.

Colours are bright, eccentric, strong and vibrant, contrasting every which way to create works of expressive wonder, each with its own mood and character. Art and colour become the bridge between the artist and the viewer, creating moments of intimacy and surprises.

With Deusa’s technique of letting acrylic paints flow freely after application, unexpected lines and textures are constructed, adding to the fluidity and energy of the painting. Deusa explores different textures and a variety of brush sizes spontaneously, sometimes even using her hands or a ruler to create something exceptional and daring.

The use of transparent materials including the unique plexi glass serves as a medium replacing canvas, where colours are painted between two sheets, letting the high-gloss finish create an interesting new dimension. This medium seduces the viewer into looking closer, to search for hidden lines and meanings embedded in the layers and textures, leading to a deeper understanding of the emotions that motivated the work of art.
