ARNDT Singapore presents a solo exhibition of Indonesian artist Entang Wiharso. Wiharso is currently based between Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and Rhode Island, USA.
He is one of the most significant artists from Indonesia today. Originally trained as a painter, Wiharso also creates sculptures, installations and aluminum cut-outs. His work, often channeling themes from his personal life, relates to questions of human conditions and cultural identities. By touching upon topics such as love, hate, religion, race, ethnicity, ideology and fanaticism, Wiharso also examines the socio-political conditions in a larger sense.
Wiharso was one of the artists representing Indonesia at the 55th Venice Biennial. The forthcoming show at ARNDT Singapore will feature the new body of work by the artist.
