The gallery will open with a photography exhibition titled The Big Picture, which includes the work of worldrenowned photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson, Annie Leibovitz, Robert Mapplethorpe and Sebastião Salgado, all of whom have fundamentally changed the way we see the world. Of late, photography has acquired a great deal of importance in the contemporary art world with more and more leading arts institutions in the West devoting resources and space to it. Sundaram Tagore will continue this trend at Gillman Barracks. Much of the work in The Big Picture has never before been shown in Singapore.
