Grand Opening of Element Art Space
by Element Art Space
Location: Element Art Space
Artist(s): GROUP SHOW
Date: 12 Mar - 28 Apr 2013

Element Art Space, one of Singapore’s leading galleries for modern and contemporary South East Asian art, will be departing their old premises and opening at the historic Raffles Hotel Arcade in the heart of Singapore’s Art District.

Element Art Space represents important South East Asian modern artists such as Lee Man Fong and Affandi, and contemporary artists, including Angki Purbandono, Agan Harahap, Redy Rahadian and Ling Yang Chang. The gallery is also privately active in the Western primary market for Anish Kapoor, Marc Quinn and Fernando Botero, and the secondary market including Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro and Gerhard Richter.

When looking for a potential site, Element Art Space emphasized accessibility and location as its two most important criteria. Measuring more than 120 square meters and featuring an impressive 3.8-meter-high ceiling, Element Art Space will continue to be one of the most exciting and accessible commercial art spaces in Singapore. Furthermore, Raffles Hotel holds significant historic and aesthetic value. Built in 1899, it is the oldest hotel in Singapore and houses some of the most luxurious shops in its Arcade.

To mark the grand opening of its new space, Element Art Space will showcase some of the best of modern and contemporary South East Asian art including works by Cheong Soo Pieng, Choo Keng Kwang, Lee Man Fong, Affandi, Siew Hock Meng, Redy Rahadian, Ling Yang Chang and Hendra ‘HeHe’ Harsono. In this new space, the gallery will continue to present a rich and diverse programme of museum-quality exhibitions for the enjoyment of both collectors and the general public alike.
