Yavuz Fine Art is pleased to present Looking For The God Particle, Saskia Pintelon’s second solo exhibition with Yavuz Fine Art, which premiers a new series of works by the Belgium born artist. Pintelon has always been fascinated by the scientific possibility of many other dimensions than those known to us, as advocated in the String theory. In her quest to create paintings that are the culmination of all experience and of all that matters, Pintelon explores an oeuvre that reflects on the concept of the ‘God particle’ and the vibrating strings.

From Pintelon’s previous works that interpret the collective human experience, environment and the cycle of life with the most intimate and personal preoccupations, she has moved on to the most universal and existential preoccupation of man: understanding the forces that hold the universe in place. She approaches this new concept with captivating, simple renderings of grand theories in her characteristic visual language - a monochrome palette using new techniques that bring to life vibrating, shimmering particles and suggest the unknown, with physical strings protruding from the canvas.

The paintings Ashes to Ashes and Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust allude not only to the inevitability of death but also to the saying “from gold to garbage and garbage to gold”, which manifests itself in the use of recycled rags - making beauty out of the discarded.

Space For Thought is her first work from the new series where Pintelon endeavours to create an oeuvre that is transcendental. This translates itself in virtual spaces for thought, abstract works based on the cumulative memory of places, especially the ocean. The idea is to create meditative, captivating canvases, immersive environments for viewing and contemplation that draw us in and make us pause. At first beguiled by beauty and then pulled into the mesmerizing quality that brings us back to our own elementary memories and suspends time.

Pintelon’s story is the one we all experience when we ask ourselves: ‘where are we going to and where are we coming from?’ Pintelon has an existential and compulsive need to ask those questions and to express her answers in the form of her work at the subtle interstice of the personal and the collective. The dialectic discourse within each individual to feel part of something universal, no matter how daunting that seems and the egocentric need to differentiate ourselves from fellow humans is a constant theme in the artist’s work. Life happens in between the coming and going as expressed in her painting The Show Must Go On.
