Random.Less
by Chan Hampe Galleries Tanjong Pagar
Location: Chan Hampe Galleries Tanjong Pagar
Artist(s): Vincent CHOW
Date: 11 Nov - 21 Nov 2010

An engineer by training, Vincent Chow decided to follow his heart and delve into full-time artistic practice after five years in as an electrical engineer. Since 2008, Vincent has exhibited at various locations, including The Arts House @ The Old Parliament House, The Substation and recently in Kuala Lumpur at the Annexe Gallery.

In “random.less”, Vincent will present a series of works created through the interplay of the conscious and subconscious in his search for new visual experiences. The creation process for him involves finding artistic order in the chaotic freedom of the subconscious.

“random.less” runs from 11 Nov to 21 Nov, with an opening night on 13 Nov 2010 at Chan Hampe Galleries @ Tanjong Pagar, located at #04-02, 21 Tanjong Pagar Road, Singapore 088444. The exhibition is open from 10am to 10pm daily and closed on Wednesdays. Admission is free. For enquiries, please call +65 6222 1667.

About the Artist

To Vincent, art is not vastly different from engineering. Both involve innovative problem-solving and he enjoys the journey of exploring the unknown, creating possibilities and translating ideas into reality. He believes that art is life and life is art and relishes being challenged by uncertainties in the creative process.

His background in engineering equipped him with problem solving skills that are essential in creating art, while his analytical skills also complement well with his emotional expression. From Vincent: “I enjoy exploring the best approach to present my ideas effectively, in particular seeking 'efficient' ways to express most with the least. In the process, I also like to free my intellectual mind to let my emotional side take over to paint from the subsconscious.”
