Chan Hampe Galleries @Raffles Hotel has expanded its operations in the Raffles Hotel Arcade and is now occupying two adjacent units on the ground floor - units 01-20 and 01-21. Furthering our commitment to supporting emerging and established contemporary artists in Singapore and the region, this move will allow patrons to enjoy our exhibition program and access our extensive stockroom of artworks in one convenient location.

The gallery will open in May 2012 with an exhibition showcasing a series of new works by acclaimed Singapore-based, Korean painter Om Mee Ai. With the grid as an underlying structure, Om’s canvas is a mixture of multiple translucent layers of colour painted using a complex and meticulous process of repetitive "taping, layering, and wiping". This results in pure abstract paintings in the form of post-geometrical modernism. After a successful solo show in our original Raffles Hotel Arcade premises in 2010, Om went on to exhibit in Australia and Malaysia in 2011. A major work by Om is currently on display at the Singapore Art Museum as part of PANORAMA: Recent Art from Contemporary Asia.

Works by Om Mee Ai will be on display from the 2nd of May until the 2nd of June, 2012.
