From performance to installations and photography, Shaowanasai's multidisciplinary approach to his work often revolves around gender and wider Thai cultural issues. He has shown extensively in Asia, Europe and the United States. In 2003 and 2009, Shaowanasai was selected to represent the Thai pavilion in the 50th and 53rd Venice Biennale, and his works feature in the collections of many international private collectors and major institutions including the Singapore Art Museum.
