The Dots Within
by Pop and Contemporary Fine Art
Location: ION Art Gallery, Level 4, ION Orchard Singapore
Artist(s): Yayoi KUSAMA
Date: 12 Sep - 2 Oct 2011

Pop and Contemporary Fine Art is proud to present one of the world’s most important living, contemporary female artists, Yayoi Kusama.

The Exhibition, "The Dots Within" which Pop and Contemporary Fine Art will be presenting at Ion Orchard Art Gallery from the 12th of September to the 2nd of October 2011, will showcase artwork that will encompass a myriad of Kusama's work in different media which will include canvas work, print work, ceramic work, mixed media work and watercolour work.  Print work is something that is very important to Yayoi as repetition is an integral part of her artwork. Print work gives the artist the ability to interact and engage with a much wider audience and also gives a collector the opportunity to show the progression of an artist from the beginning to the end of their career. Therefore, we have chosen to show a wide variety of print work at the exhibition.

The gallery will also be showing some of Kusama’s Lamé artwork which are pieces created with a glitter process that is absolutely stunning. So as not to disappoint her fans, we will obviously be exhibiting a selection of her signature pumpkins, in different shapes, sizes and colours.

Yayoi Kusama has exhibited all around the world, participated in several Biennale’s, including Singapore’s first Biennale in 2006 and has been the subject of numerous books, publications and documentaries. Pop and Contemporary Fine Art is delighted to be showing her works as part of our commitment to bringing, a once a year, non-profit art exhibition of the highest quality to Singapore.

Currently, Kusama has a major retrospect of her artwork that is being shown at the Reina Sofia in Madrid. This exhibition will then tour the Pompadour in Paris, the Tate Modern in London and the Whitney Museum in New York. Her artwork has been the inspiration for many other talented artists including the likes of Andy Warhol and Takashi Murakami. Kusama obviously enjoys a huge global appeal and has an enormous fan base of people from all ages and nationalities, both at a gallery at auction level.
