Hoang Duong Cam (b. 1974, Hanoi, Vietnam) was educated at the University of Fine Art in Hanoi, and is now one of the most active contemporary artists in Vietnam.
Hoang's multidisciplinary practice dances nimbly around traditional classifications of genre and medium, frequently incorporating such techniques and disciplines as painting, performance art, installation, and photography. Far from being genre-bending for its own sake, Hoang's approach highlights the role of conceptual development in the process of art-making, which in turn reflects art's capacity, in its expressive and experimental character, in questioning and re-assessing the societies, cultures, perspectives, and histories which we inhabit.
