Poh B.S was born in 1955. At the age of seven, he already had a strong interest in drawing. He remember he drew a horse back then and showed it to my father. He was very happy that at such a young age, he could already draw a horse. When he was 13, his father passed away. Gone also were the strong support and encouragement he had given him. However, his interest in art did not stop. During his secondary school days, he joined the Art Society and participated in numerous interschool art competitions. His art pieces won several top awards and were displayed in the school premises as exhibits. He was also assigned to draw murals on the school walls. His art teacher saw the potential in him and enrolled him in an arts school to further pursue his interest. However, his eldest brother, whom had become the figure of authority in his family after his father passed away, objected and advised him not to pursue art because it is not something he can make a living with in future. After graduation, he took up a job with a publishing company and was involved with designing magazines, flyers and school annual reports among many other types of publications. Since then, he have not pursued his interest in drawing full-time. With the start of his own family, all his time and energy was focused on bringing up his children. He had to put his interest in art aside. Now that he is semi-retired and his children have grown up, he have more time to concentrate on his drawing and hence start to pursue his interest again. Since starting, his art pieces have been well-received and he is more than happy to continue along this path. He have accepted requests from individual buyers or even companies for commission of his painting. For now, he will also continue to explore different kinds of drawing techniques in the hope of further extending his skill in art.
