Bartha & Senarclens Participating at ARTSingapore 2010, Booth C02
by Bartha & Senarclens | Partners
Date: 8 Oct - 11 Oct 2010

Bartha & Senarclens, is pleased to participate as an exhibitor in the 10th edition of Art Singapore. The art fair will run from 8 October to 11 October and will take place at the Suntec International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Our booth will be displaying works by internationally recognized artists Barry Flanagan, Bernar Venet, Julian Schnabel, Robert Longo, Doug & Mike Starn, Marc Quinn, Yves Dana and Adam Dant. Our exhibit will feature sculptures, drawings, paintings and photographic works showcasing artists from America and Europe.

On display will be a beautiful steel sculpture in the form of an arch by Bernar Venet. The piece is an excellent demonstration of how Venet explores the ephemeral with is recurrent theme of undetermined lines. A preview of this sculpture will be available at the ARTSingapore 2010 Fair Preview which takes place at ION Gallery at the Ion Orchard shopping mall. This preview runs from 22 September 2010 to 4 October 2010 allowing tourists visiting Singapore during the Formula 1 weekend to catch a preview of the fair.

Sculptures by the established Swiss artist Yves Dana will also be presented at the fair. Crafted from stone and bronze Danaʼs sculptures with their elegant lines and smooth forms recall his Egyptian roots. His monumental works are in public spaces in the USA, France, Greece, Switzerland and Japan.

A pair of Barry Flanaganʼs famous hares will also be shown. With subversive irreverence, Flanaganʼs hares adopt the energy of humans and are typically shown engrossed in activities, such as playing musical instruments or sport, dancing, boxing, leaping and performing acrobatics. The pair of hares locked in a boxing dance of sorts demonstrates Flanaganʼs unique ability to capture movement in his work.

A colourful series of map paintings by Julian Schnabel and two drawings by Robert Longo will also be on display. Longoʼs photographic charcoal drawings depict the power of nature through the jaws of a shark and the force of a tsunami. Through these images Longo investigates the ways in which the world is negotiated through power and aggression, ultimately documenting society's cruel humanity.

Photographic works by Doug & Mike Starn from their series alleverythingthatisyou which captures single snowflakes will also be available. Interested collectors can curate their own work of art by selecting a minimum of six photographs which can be grouped to create a unique series.

Bartha & Senarclens traditional strength in Western contemporary art makes it a unique player in the Singapore market and upcoming ARTSingapore which is the leading contemporary Asian art fair in Singapore. “Collectors in Singapore and the region are receptive to international art. We have chosen to present established artists whose works comprise important museums collections across the world. The availability of this type of art in Singapore demonstrates that the market here is growing and is an access point for collectors in the region interested in acquiring some of todayʼs leading contemporary artists”.
