A group of leading contemporary Malaysian artists, working in painting, sculpture and new media, comes together for the first time in Singapore for an exhibition of recent works as part of WORK, a project begun in 2009 about the events that take place in an artist’s studio and the thinking behind the artistic process. The book WORKING, published in 2010, gathers a series of artists’ interviews and self-documentation carried out during the project, and photographic portraits by Tara Sosrowardoyo, which form an integral part of the current exhibition.
As a part of the programme is TALKING SHOP, to be held on Sat 18 June at 4 pm - an artists’ dialogue open to the public, bringing together current practitioners from Singapore and Malaysia to exchange knowledge and experiences about their working lives. Ian Woo, Salleh Japar, Susie Wong and Ye Shufang will be speaking to Ahmad Zakii Anwar, Jalaini Abu Hassan, Ramlan Abdullah and Yee I-Lann.
