Delia (Iliesiu) Prvacki, born 1950, Romania.
Studied at the Institute of Fine Arts, Bucharest, Romania, where she earned her MFA in Ceramic Arts.
From 1975 to 1991 she lived and worked as a professional artist in Yugoslavia.
Delia’s ceramic works and exhibitions in the 80’s and 90’s brought her recognition in former Yugoslavia.
Since 1992 she moved to Singapore and became a Singaporean citizen.
Relocating to Singapore brought fresh inspiration and new ideas to her body of work. On one hand there is a permanent fascination with traditional heritage and oriental culture, tropical landscape, scenery and abundance of colors and varieties of materials, on the other hand, she was also inspired by the new metropolis with all its achievements of a modern city, in architecture, infrastructure, high technology.
Delia’s current work reflects this dual attachment to the human existence- passion for past and constructive questioning of present and future, as well as developing her work in relation to architecture and the environment, making site-specific works.
During the last 10 years Delia has completed numerous public works, commissioned by important buildings. Her medium varies from ceramic materials to cast bronze, GRC and woven tapestries.
