“Dig” is a collaborated efforts of a sculptor(James Teh), industrial designer (Dominic Poon) and curator(Francis Poon), and a commercial art space(Dahlia Gallery). It is a sculptural installation that references the explosion of progress, development, innovation and the productions of time-scarce Contemporary society. In the attempt to solidify a seemingly vague notion of the instantaneous passing of time from present to past, work depicts the desires of capturing the moment and to revisit present, recent and instant history.
The exhibition features Singaporean artist James Teh, showcasing his interventions in the exploratory act of excavation, as sculpting, of immemersed objects of mass consumption in recent history from paper infused concrete as technique to create sculptures that retain a certain functional aesthetics.

Artist's Statement:
Struggling to make themselves seen and heard, or shying away, afraid of being branded and labeled obsolete, objects from past and recent times are bound in cement blocks, waiting to be rediscovered, to be reinvented. The excavation of these forgotten aspects of civilization merely brings their physical being to the viewer; antiquities of the past. Their shells may be deteriorating and wasted, but the lessons they hold still speak with a timeless wisdom, if we would only deem them worthy of listening to. It is in heeding these words of advice, and acting upon them that we may truly progress, and find a way to escape this pit of stagnation which we have invariably dug ourselves into; this cycle of ignorance.
