Freedom
by Dahlia Gallery
Location: Dahlia Gallery
Artist(s): Richard LIM
Date: 3 Feb - 13 Feb 2010

All being are born to be free just like birds and fishes. Once captures and looses it freedom they will not be able to survive being in the captive environment. Just like a prisoner - don't you think he like to have his freedom? Human are highly intelligence creature and even strive for freedom as it is important.

In this modern society, all of us seeking for materialistic mean but are we really happy and in fact we felt more tripped in our environment as ever. In our life journey had we done things in the way we desire and do we dare to do things that seem impossible to achieve? We envy the birds and the fishes that fly and swim without restriction.

Richard is a romantic artist and presents his artworks to celebrate the beauty of things and hope that my work in Freedom will bring joy and happiness to the viewer.

About the Artist:

Freedom is Richard 2nd Solo exhibition with Dahlia Gallery (Previously known as Forth Gallery). Richard is a versatile artist that started his career as a fabric print designer. He is known for his portrait artworks of MM Lee Kuan Yew and other affluent figures such as Gandhi from India, Mother Teresa, South Africa Nelson Mandela and China's Chairman Mao ZhiDong.

This collection expanded his skill further from a portrait artist to expressing his artworks to the study of nature of birds and fishes. It is interesting transformation with strong Chinese calligraphy strokes with western presentation on the canvas.
