Possessions are hard to shed. In our time when the fabulously wealthy and those barely subsisting exist alongside each other, objects at once become immaterial and precious.
Marina Cruz is one of the most promising young artists from the Philippine Contemporary Art scene, and in this exhibition she continues her series of works that celebrate recollections. This time she curates her own private museum of objects and delves into the poignant but jettisoned memories of seemingly trivial value, yet hard to discard. In our time when the egregiously wealthy and the exceptionally abject exist alongside each other, things at once become immaterial and matter so fundamentally. While choosing a vivid palette, Cruz infuses her works with a nostalgic feel. She leaves it up to the viewer to imagine purpose, significance and memories lost.
Lost Finds embarks on a personal journey in discovering value within the sentimental.
