"I turn animals to human beings that make people feel strange; I think it is fun. It is a gilded era now; things are covered by unreal phenomena. The duty of an artist is to bring forward questions." - Li Dapeng
In this series of Li's paintings, pigs live like human beings; they do every human thing and keep smiling on their faces. Moreover, Li believes that there is an element of comedy with symbol of happiness, which should be accepted by the majority. Perhaps Li implies that after all, “Art has to response to people's needs; there are real and rich energy, and solid friendliness among the people.” As a result, he chooses to make art with the matters he is familiar with and within the environment, where he grew up. As perceived by Li, the artist should also be a philosopher; the philosophical concept should lead the artistic concept.
