Indeed, Tagore was undoubtedly instrumental in bringing about a fresh dimensbn to Bengali literature and music; a dimensbn that rema nsa milestone in the history of the colossal genre of indbn Art.

TIMELESS TAGORE: Rabindranoth Tagore's Poetry in Visual Art by Sudokshina Ghosh is a momentous exhibition that marks the completion of 150 years after Tagore's birth. The captivating collection of paintings portrays one art St's purposeful and sometimes poignant imaginafion, that has been amalgamated with a vividly-individual style and the unquestionably challenging mission of discovering a personal visual grammar of elucidating selected poems by Tagore, who was the first non-European to win the Noble Prize for Literature in 1913: who wrote the national anthem of two nations - India and Bangladesh. This significant showcase, which symbolically opens on Togore's birthday, will be Singapore-based Sudakshina is first-ever sob art exhibition.

In 1952 in Kolkata the capital of West Bengal. India). Sudakshina was born into a dynamic family of classical musicians and practitioners of art in general; into an ambience that so mellifluously cultivated living art forms under one grand passion - Tagore and Rabindra Sangeet (a genre that means 1Tagore's Music', referring to more than two thousand songs that were composed by Tagore. based on the classical and folk musb of India). As a natural extent onto her upbringing, Sudakshina holds a Degree in Rabindra Sangeet, which took her an intensive five years fo combete. Synonymous y. she is well-versed in several forms of Indian classical dance, having had attempted her test steps of rhythm at the age of seven. Sudakshina is grateful to her mother, Bharati Datta (nee Roy), who was educated at the Visva-Bharati University (founded by Tagore in Santiniketan). for effortlessly instilling within her the undying search of the creative spirit and for cultivating the capacity to relish and comprehend Tagore's art and philosophy. lnspite of her rigorous training and practice in dance and her professional training in Chemistry (which was followed by almost three decades of experience in teaching the subject), Suclakshina expanded her spectrum of creativity via training in the visual arts at the hionyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore) from 2006 onwards. This involvement led to her zestful participation in several group art exhibitions in Singapore. resulting in a sincere effort to commence her search for a style: a nuance that will present her with an individual identity. And TIMELESS TA GORE marks the beginning of this crucial stage in her fife, as a creator.

Sudakshina's collection of paintings for this exhibition resonates a characteristic that is deceivingly illustrative. The visual narrative. combined with the compartmentalisation of known and unknown symbols, overlapping modes of composition, selected extractions from the respective poem in Bengali script. pulsating colours and the figurative element, bring about a powerful Indian classicial accent, which reflects a deliberate sincerity on the art st's part kler spirit is transparent in her art; a spirit that is devoted to the virtuosity of Tagorei to the genius of a legend whose art and life continue to intrigue, influence, inspire and mesmerise the mankind of the twenty-first century.
