Gana Art is pleased to introduce a solo exhibition by Ling Jian, the representative artist of Chinese realism art. Spending childhood during the Culutral Revolution, Ling Jian has expressed aspect of Chinese society changing in terms of the open-door policy through appearance of woman in exaggerated form and hyperrealism. After studying at Tsinghua University, the artist has worked in Europe and her portraits with Chinese social aspect got great attention in European art market. Based on a trauma of the Culutral Revolution, Ling Jian worked as searching strange feeling left in her heart. Later on the artist absorbed European abstract into own hyperrealistic technique and created unique works with a mix of European color and emotion of China.
The new exhibition is the first solo exhibition in Korea and it will introduce new works after trying landmark change in 2013. In new works, he focuses on his inner side through portraits of inspired people and himself, and creates sculptural paintings with bold brush-touch and materials, rather than images of Chinese woman.
