Art Seasons Gallery is pleased to announce "Mood is Never Better than Memory: Photographs of Chi Peng", featuring the fictionalized seascapes by Chi Peng. Like a focusing lens, Chi Peng travels between reality and digital.
In line with his persistent exploration of history, culture, urban environment and digital manipulation, he seems to question our social recollection through the "Mood is Never Better than Memory" series. Reminiscent of the uncertainty when recalling a dream, we wonder whether his digitally altered sceneries are tranquil and familiar, or violent and threatening. These curious provocations linger at the tip of Chi Peng's intangible tableaux.
Chi Peng (b. 1981) was born in Shandong Province, China and completed his B.A. in the Digital Media Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts. His works were included in major group exhibitions at the Pompidou Center (Paris), Fukuoka Asian Art Triennial (Japan), the House of World Cultures (Berlin), National Museum of Modern Art (Seoul) and Prague Triennale (Czech Republic). He currently lives and works in Beijing.
