Gallery Em currently presents a solo exhibition by Yeoreum Rhee, who works with sweets like lollipop or marshmallow, and daily uses of today. The sweet is a medium that calls a warm and joyful happiness to the artist. As making 'sweets,' or enjoying it, people make a relationship with the artwork as brining own memory and experience unconsciously. Also, on a process of transforming such fragmentary memory into happier memory and reminding of it, people earn a sort of stability and pleasure. This is a way to heal making up for inner weakness, and a result of self-understanding, rather than hypersensitive defense system for negative memory. The artist thinks making memories of life happier through sweet objet is an important value people can obtain from arts.
