Engine, the heart of the car, transforms an explosive energy to a drive energy that is an innovative invention of the Industrial Revolution. And the explosive energy is controlled by suitable temperature, pressure and volume depending on the conditions of physical control. As so on, the air and water is numerical valued and controls the explosion, which is employed as essential material. Moreover, they affect the car’s durability, safety and speed, which are to consider the overall of car design. For this exhibition, the artists’ attempted an indirect approach of the essence of car through the attribute of air and water.

Recently, the current of car design represents the identity that exposes the brand value and character. What if their form is not in whole, but divided into partial formations? Could they reveal the artistic sensibility more when they are divided into pieces? The car designer, Chung, Joo Hyun, elaborately designs the brand in whole with his own ways. While the artist fills in the exhibition space into a minimal contemporary art scene. The BMW’s grill, Audi’s rear and Sonata’s headlamp feast of colors and formations brings on a space consciousness that emphasize solely of the visual intrinsic function. The dramatic scene shown by the artist, a situation of a car that is submerged, exposes the subtle and organic horizontal line which creates a formative shape itself.

Hong, Sung Do visualize the security device airbag and represents the daily objects that is clashed with the vinyl material, which is filled up within the air. The impulsive scenery is shown by objects of cups, bottles, radios and miniature cars that crash directly with the airbag. The concept of protection, buffer and shock absorber is connected with intimate relations with physical energy of disperse which is finally the natural combination fusion of subordinate concept. The artist depicts the collision of different objects that absorbs the shock and captures the borderline of design and pure art.

For this exhibition, Chung, Joo Hyun and Hong, Sung Do, by alluding to a car, seeks an interface between art and design. And this new attempt of various aspects which presents the paragon of contemporary art intrigues the viewers in an artistic way.
