PKM Gallery is pleased to present the new exhibition 'Take Your Shirt Off' by Young Do Jeong. Young Do Jeong graduated from Rhode Island School of Design(BFA) and Temple University Tyler School of Art(MFA). For the first solo exhibition in Korea, his 10 paintings and illustrations including new ones will be on view. Under the title 'Take Your Shirt Off', the artist focuses on a difference of stereotype, moral standard and belief between Korea and the United States so that the exhibition is a visual suggestion raising the question of hope for an escape from comparative formality and honor. Aspiring inner communication of man to man, Young Do Young's layout reveals pain and loss of life, misunderstanding, and sin bluntly and metaphorically. Especially a shape of an animal in his work reminds the audience of unrefined nature as well as cultural relativity. Using various materials to create the layout with tension, the artist shows dense narrative on layered form crossing abstraction and representation.
