PKM Gallery is pleased to announce the first solo exhibition in Asia of German female artist, Isa Melsheimer. This is a start of Project Exhibition Summer 2013 in PKM Gallery at the temporary exhibition space.
After graduating from Hochschule der Kunste in Berlin, Isa Melsheimer has shown the organic and sensual installations with structural concept using mixed different materials, woods, cotton, glass, silicon and concrete. Based on images of spaces she has learnt actually or via mass media, she recreates a humorous and theatrical space, especially inspired by monumental buildings of representative architects in 20th century, Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, and James stirling.
The well-known best student of the master of German painting, Gerorg Baselitz, Melsheimer will announce sculptures and installations based on elaborate analysis and experiments for the materials, and new drawings. Especially, Selbstenzundet, embroidered T-shirt self-ignited by linseed oil displaying with a concrete block, Vorhang(Eule), leading re-contextualization of the exhibition place using a translucent cotton as a curtain, and Vulkan, a miniature model of vast glacier and range with silicon and glass, will present her unique experimental mind, applying esthetical experience from the nature to the architectural and artificial sculpture.
