Eliminate Points, Lines and Planes
by Arario Seoul
Location: Arario Seoul
Artist(s): Inbai KIM
Date: 6 Mar - 13 Apr 2014

Inbai Kim, the representing artist of Arario Gallery, will hold a solo exhibition 'Eliminate Points, Lines and Planes.'

With interesting subject, the exhibition will show 15 unpublished new works he have created for three years. Inbai Kim has worked as surpassing a boundary of the cognition structure by human, such as plane and solid, time and space, and language and non-language. Especially, through artworks of this exhibition, the artist shows his attempt to separate basic elements of material, points, lines and planes, from solid reversely.

Solid body complexly comprised of points, lines and planes existing on two dimension is resolved into one with emphasized these three elements. 'Sculpture', which used to be 'mass,' returns to original properties, points, lines and planes, and creates complex mutual circulation. His mysterious sculptures with the mixture of abstract mass, and points, lines and planes remind of sense of muscle and body as well as aesthetic joy through mythical imagination.

His challenge to eliminate these basic elements of art narrowly means the denial of formative language and core rules of system, and faces with a limit of language we use semiotically. In the exhibition, Arario Gallery spreads intuition through artworks emphasizing material property and suggests the artist's view on the structure of visual language and visual mechanism, how we get educated to see it.
