Artist(s): Hanna KIM
Date: 22 Mar - 29 Apr 2012
Hanna Kim's works document stories about the artist and an imaginary rabbit that crosses over reality and fantasy. While Kim's previous works portrayed the first meeting with the rabbit to their aocidental parting and seardring for eadi other in desperation, Kim's recent works capture everyday episodes with the reunited rabbit. The story begins one day with a chat the artist has with an old woman in the neighborhood. The never-ending questions about graduating from school and getting a job make the artist and the rabbit feel like failed youths. However, Kim and the rabbit oontinue fighting through the everyday life together doing trivial things like saving money and fighting sleep to exercise, and demonstrate that living life in the present is what really brings victory in daily life. The daily life episodes with Hanna and rabbit are like soenes from a fairy tale with pastel tones and a unique oomposilion focusing on the character. Furthennore, what can also be read from the paintings is the spirit of the ‘880,000won generation’ of today. A total of over 30 works are displayed, in various genres including paintings, video, drawing and sculpture.
