SUNG Sangeun was born in Seoul, in 1970. Sung graduated from the College of Fine Arts, Hong-ik University and its graduate school, majoring in sculpture. She then studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York. The artist makes vague shapes with the effect of unintended touches and repetition of such touches. By doing so, Sung creates new circle shapes with composite and multiple images that go far beyond a particular image. With both plan and three-dimension approaches, Sung also presents her own circles, which are the creature and space and, at the same time, a link to the outside world. She has held 2 solo exhibitions and some 20 group exhibitions including the recent solo exhibition at the Gallery Mano.
