Gallery Baton is pleased to present Duncan Hannah Solo Exhibition 'Pleasures and Follies' from 4 July to 4 August.
Duncan Baton is unknown in Asia yet, but he has developed American art in 20th century with his delicate touch, and his works are collected permanantly by Metropolitan Museum in New York and Art Institute of Chicago. Also, Duncan is selected as Guggenheim Fellow in 2011.
He is inspired by 'Great Gatsby', written by Scott Fitzgerald. The Major cities in Eastern states, such as New York and Connecticut, led Americanized European Culture, and wealthy immigrants formed WASP culture (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant). Thus, He was affected by WASP culture during his life, which is contained in his paintings.
Even though many people judge that desire of newness and the overflow of sensational images represent the contemporary art in America, he shows vanishing American nostalgia with his skilled techniques through his artworks.
