Korea artist, Egene Koo, who has participated in Gana Atelier Residency program, will be opening a solo exhibition at Gallery Imazoo. She has been selected one of the artists at the exhibition 'YMCA + YWCA' at the gallery, and studied at Korea National University of Arts and Camberwell College of Arts.
In previous works, she realistically depicted a girl or personified animals representing unended childhood period in her mind. In the new exhibition, the artist shows stories from a myth. She started working from symbolical images created at the encounter part between old myth and her story. Connecting unanswerable but unforgettable question or puzzle with herself, mysterious oil paintings and drawings will be featured. According to the artist, images of animals are recreated by her understanding, and images in 'Trivial Myth' try to present some attributes revealing in 'a man in nature.' Thus, many images of animals like traditional expression can be found in her works.
