The artist Jeong Hyun Kim focuses on 'objectivity', a characteristic of photo and media and has explored it constantly. His work doesn't only provide a visual image, but also qualify the audience for a role of 'third person' required for silent judgement. Among exhibiting works, there are interviewees in 'Survival Game' series and all backgrounds are in black, which makes an equal condition for all. Tension people's acts tell that they are the interviewees to the audience. Another series 'Protocol' show lots of faces. People are greeting politely but they look awkward. Greeting is semiautomatic act inherent in unconscious.
As showing half-forced and permanently learnt attitude objectively, Kim suggests us to look back ourselves. The audience reflect themselves on the video, so that get the opportunity to see an inner minds away from habitual routine.
⎡'Survival Game' series and 'Protocol' extremely express a cross section of modern society. As seen on the video work, we do not experience the society in an extreme way. Thus, these works look unrealistic. However, it could be possible that the truth is concealed and distorted so that the works look unrealistic. Revealing hidden reality is Kim's works. According to a traditional reappearance system, a scene makes a role to cover up the reality. In 'Survival Game' series and 'Protocol', the audience makes a crack on a picture and disclose the truth of social structure. His works became a cracker in this time. This is a reason why his works do not stop at the obvious critical for the modern society.⎦
