SongEun ArtCube has supported rising artists' exhibition to encourage the will to create. From 2011, 13 artists have held the exhibition so far. And from 25 April, the solo exhibition of Ho-Yeon Kang is started.
Ho-Yeon Kang finds new images among daily objects and suggests unexpected results. For example, telescope, tripod, mirror, reusable paper, humidifier, and rag are combined together and they produce an image of a volcano in Iceland. As arranging mirror or camera, reflections overlap at one point and form the unique image.
A source for his work is utopian images or tourism destinations. Also, not only visual effect, he also utilizes sense of touch or hearing, which gives something unusual and interesting.
Everything is being on the go all the time in this society. All works come at the same time, so that people cannot allow a peace of mind. For that reason, when seeing a photo of nature, it becomes utopia to visit one day. However, after coming back to the reality, people feel bigger gap between them. Utopia exists as ideological image unlike the reality.
