Songeun Art Space is pleased to feature 2013 project France in Song Eun, 'France in SongEun : The French Haunted House'.
Started from 2012, this project is collaborated with different country every year to introduce young contemporary artists and to exchange different culture in depth. After 'Reflections from Nature: Young Switzerland artists exhibition' in 2012, France is selected as the second country, and it will be where young French artists show their spirits of challenge and experiment.
12 artists will be participated in the exhibition, and they will change the venue into a dreamlike place like the title. In this place, each work releases itself in the mysterious tension and makes an opened scenario, which can be analyzed subjectively. There is no certain watching movement, so that audience can enjoy the exhibition in terms of own experience without any format and makes a different story.
First story of the exhibition is based on the conscious or unconscious relationship between the artists and Western art history. How masters of contemporary art, such as Picabia, Magritte and Duchamp, affect on the creative world of the participating artists in the physical and spiritual world will be shed light on.
Second story is from the connection relation between art works, it means that each art work functions as different element for a movie. Persons in Damen Cadio's painting, Théo Mercier's sculpture, and Eléonore Saintagnan's video, become actors of this movie. Also, Elsa Sahal's pottery, Neïl Beloufa's installation, Florence Lucas's print image, and 'Guillaume Constantin's digital slide show are the figuration of the background. Lastly, Jonathan Binet's lacquer spray work, Julie Béna's photograph, and Julien Salaud's varietal animal sculpture make a summary. Additionally, music from installations by Emmanuel Lagarrigue and Stéphane Vigny completes a film as a sound track.
'France in SongEun : The French Haunted House' is a part of national art and culture project the Songeun Art Space has only, and it's sponsored by France cultural institute, which helps to discover French artists in-depth and to understand a flow of French culture.
