The Absurd Mass
by SongEun ArtSpace
Location: SongEun ArtSpace
Artist(s): SungMyung CHUN
Date: 20 Jul - 22 Sep 2012

Songeun Art Space is pleased to announce the CHUN Sung Myung Solo Exhibition. After AHN Doo Jin Solo Exhibition in 2011, this is the second Korean artist temporary exhibition, and we support his experimental mind and challenges with sculpture and installation works. Especially, in this exhibition, he will show an epilogue exhibition at the end to finish the whole composition.

After Chun (b.1971) graduated from SuWon University, he has had 8 exhibitions, including the first exhibition 'A clown, picking a star.'. Chun has shown creative works with  his own narratives as well as traditional sculpture skill. Since he was selected for the young artists' group exhibition at National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea, has participated in many group exhibitions, was awarded Kim Se Joong young sculptor prize in 2007 and BelgradeMicro-Narratives in Yugoslavia.

In this exhibition, he will show the new series, which presents his inner reasons and experimental sculptures about irrationality, aside from the previous series 'swallowing the shadow'(2007,2008) and 'That is Nothing'(2011). His works have different stories in every exhibition, and suggest metaphors for reflection on an ego and inner sides and realities of modern people. In this series, he shows lost general contexts and segmented mind, using fragmented sculptures.

At the epilogue exhibition (10-22 Sep), he will collect the fragmented sculptures and make them as one mass. Also, he will leave a space where the sculptures are showed, so that audiences can follow traces and analogize the whole story.
