Opera Gallery is delighted to present “Dream Blossom”, the two artist show of Jean-François Larrieu & Lee Gil-Rae as the last exhibition of this year. Larrieu, a self-taught painter having longstanding relationship with Opera Gallery, describes himself as «an abstract expressionist and surrealist». Lee Gil-Rae who is known to be «a man who paints in the sky with a copper pipe» is one of the most beloved Korean artists with international fame.
Mother Nature is constantly destroyed and rehabbed by human being in this modern society. Vitality and beauty of nature is a timeless theme in art throughout many centuries inspiring artists and recalling comfort and dream to the audience. Jean-François Larrieu & Lee Gil-Rae, both artists create nature and tree with a surrealistic power even more powerful than the reality. Larrieu’s signature tree series is touched by unique French atmosphere, the brilliant and strong colour make a rebirth of trees on canvas. Lee Gil-Rae’s painterly sculpture introduces us to the utopia full of vitality and persistent living of Korean spirit.
