The starting point of the work I am presenting came when I casually picked up a collection of Korean short stories (1920s to 70s) that I had bought for my son, an 8th grader, and began to read it.

It was concerned with human issues such as fundamental desires, misunderstandings, suspicions, jealousy and poverty, stories about the material civilization, discrimination based on nationality, humor in spite of everything, Koreans’ group unconsciousness, return to the beauty of nature, religious conflicts, etc. I was given the opportunity to think about the problems of human society, regardless of age, country or economic status, and in so doing, to reflect upon myself today, and the situation of our society.

I composed the images that came to my mind while reading the book, into a series of photographs. Even things that are represented 100% in movies or historical dramas are ultimately just representations. The situations I produce are not simply representations, but attempts to show that such situations are still fundamental problems in our society today.
