Two persons Exhibition
by Gallery Dam
Location: Gallery Dam
Artist(s): Tore SVENSSON, Jin-Sook SO
Date: 16 Apr - 27 Apr 2013

Gallery Dam is pleased to announce Two persons exhibition of Tore Svensson, Danish metal craftsman, and Jinsook So. Recently, Tore Svensson works for making a domed bowl using a metal. In this exhibition, he will show brooches and bowls made from geometric field. In So's works, recharged energy among stopped forms can be found. Carefully crafted works remind of a landscape in Korea and Sweden. In this time, she adopted traditional elements to her works, such as an old reel or an ancient book. She will show 'Calendar' made of a polished tree covered by Korean paper with silver and gold. Also, an objet, coiling a paper into an old spool, will be exhibited together.

Artist Statement
I have been working the past 20 years within the geometric field with my jewellery. The projects I work with often stretches over a long period of time. A new project often emerges from an ongoing one. The beginning and the end of a project might be difficult to discern. The series consist of small displacements that change expressions and content.
The material I use is mainly steel. It has different properties and qualities which suiting perfect to the results I’m looking for.
The surface of my work is one of the most important parts of the final result. I try to reach these variations in surfaces by different techniques like etching, hammering, gilding and more recently also by the use of colour.
The shapes I’m working with are reduced to the absolutely necessary and are inspired by my surroundings.
