This is Youngsil Pyo's ninth solo exhibition and she expresses feelings in her daily life delicately as oil painting. Sang Yong Shim, a critic, talked about her works as below: Paradoxically, her plain things became a chance to be 'Kairos', penetrating a meaning of life. 'Serendipity' means 'an ability to find something enjoyable and unexpected by chance.' Of course, that happiness doesn't just have pleasure without any dark side. The artist said a body is 'which forgot how to move' and a face is 'an empty category which cannot has eyes'. Those incomplete things or bitter feelings doesn't seem to connect with merry moments. However, we should admit that at least those are delightful moments forming a life.
Catching a moment to feel a shudder, or a moment to find a belief for a life or world is her power as the artist. For example, a cat represents a person, a house becomes residence of the moon, and dust creates a landscape. Even though a boundary between an organism and inorganic is being blurred, instability of recreation is not a big problem. Omitted gap is filled by fairly-tale awakening.
And the artist explained that
"I focus on imagification of weak and sensitive feeling and a wicked desire. I reflect collected trivial things on a scene. This work provides a chance to look back the inner mind to audience. Caring about small things and doubting my decision make me use more delicate touch and colours, and draw blurred and indistinct forms."
