A Private Journal by Sonnie Lim
by Gallery K.O.N.G
Location: Gallery K.O.N.G
Date: 7 Mar - 21 Mar 2014

The exhibition entitled 'A Private Journal' by Sonnie Lim has very private subject which records the artist's experiences, happiness, sorrow, love and hurt.

Sonnie Lim has worked on abstract painting depicting her passionate emotion as well as portraits under the same theme. After 'Portraiture Suite' in 2010, Her style in the exhibition has been changed. Exploding color and action with elemental emotion burst the portrait of a woman with full of mystery and gloom in the exhibition. However, abstract painting still represents her thematic consciousness.

Metaphorical sentences on a feast of colors are expanded synesthetically like smell or sound. In the exhibition, the artist focuses on density and strength of emotion. Her works crossing the borderline between the abstraction and the concreteness depict instinct beyond communication of value dominantly used in the society.
