In a book 'Sparks of Genius', Robert and Michele Root-Bernstein said "An essence of writing is not arranging words on paper, it's cutting and throwing away unnecessary facts". Their saying has something to do with a phrase "Less is more". In painting, the more 'mimesis' of nature is skimmed off, the more essential point is left. This process can be called 'Abstract painting'. 
Su Fan Oh uses technique and materials of Western painting, but his works contain Korean emotion and philosophy. His own transcendental esthetic sense through consistent training makes lyrical but energetic scene.
