Marketplace by Young Shin Jung
by Dukwon Gallery
Location: Dukwon Gallery
Artist(s): Young Shin JUNG
Date: 8 Aug - 21 Aug 2012

Young Shin Jung has photographed 'marketplace' for 27 years. Focusing on one topic continuously tells her affection for that as well as sincerity and tenacity.
Notice in her works is that she usually focuses on people in the marketplace, not phenomenon or changes. It means that she goes there to feel the human atmosphere.
Such a warm human drama beyond record is another meaning of her photo works.
Actually, a meaning of documentary photo is from recording faithfully and being tied up by 'arts'. Also the true artistry of photograph started from such basis. Especially photograph is no worth if it is away from a record of human and life. Also, when records being base, photo works can be appraised positively in a view of humanities even though works do not become popular.
Photographs of marketplace are her novel and epic. In a way, photographs can be more realistic and moving than novel, that is because photograph contains truth vividly, which the fiction cannot.
