Restless
by Trunk Gallery
Location: Trunk Gallery
Artist(s): Taey IOHE
Date: 28 Nov - 31 Dec 2013

Taey's new solo exhibition 'Restless' shows a bed outside of the home, on the street and in a forest. In a video, there is a person raising oneself out of the bed which flows along a river recorded. Audiences may have a question, 'Why a bed is away from home?'.

'Bed' in her mind is linked to secret, passion, rest and body. Changing clothes, resting, making love, writing a journal, and showing a shifting body under people's gazes are very strange at least in imagination. However, a concept of 'privacy' which was conceived actively in 18th century was based on 'invasion of privacy' from the beginning.

NeoLiberalism economics and psychology based on it, cyber relationship with SNS, and the entertainment industry where exposes all the gossip degrade privacy. On social context, Taey's images focuses on a relationship between privacy and public sphere, or intimacy and the political. The beds she shows talk to people dreaming of 'secret private room.'
